I would call this romantic suspense light, with the emphasis on romance. It has a hot romance, a good suspense plot, humor and muscle cars. I liked it even though the plot was a bit prodding at the beginning and the end was predictable. I found all the ancillary characters engaging and I'm going to read the other books in the series.Dr. Wilson McKinney, a 72 year old renowned paleontologist, has gone missing. His granddaughter, Regan, is worried. He has been a little forgetful lately, but he wouldn't forget to call home. When Regan finds an entry in his calendar, she takes it for what it is, her last lead. When she goes after it, she finds herself face to face with an old acquaintance, Quinn Younger, whom she hasn't seen for 15 years (except for his picture on the cover of People magazine). She soon finds herself in a mess of muscle cars, dinosaur bones, government secret operations and adolescence fantasies come to life. It is a lot for Regan to take in only 24 hours.
I really liked the muscle cars. My brothers-in-law were into them and it brought back fond memories of the short track races of my youth.

I wish Quinn and Reagan showed up more in the subsequent books because I really like this pairing. It would be interesting to see how Quinn, a more street smart than book smart guy, deals with Reagan in the day to day even if it was just from casual mentions like we get with Superman.
A great introductory world builder. Janzen doesn't feel like she needs to flesh out every single character and leaves that for future books.
Book 1 if you're trying to read in order.
I love the fast paced - action/adventure romance genre. This book was recommended to me because I'm a fan of Suzanne Brockmann. I thought I'd try it. It is very different from a Brockmann book, but holds the same kind of fascination of danger/romance and adds it's own twist of cool through the use of cars.
A member of a secret group of the department of Defense, Quinn Younger is hiding out in Arizona after nearly being killed. Fresh out of his dreams and his past he spies the object of his youthful love - Regan McKinney. She is hunting Quinn down to find her grandfather, but unknowingly lures the very people involved in trying to kill Quinn. Intrigue, lust, love and the promise of a stellar series of books ensues.
The front for this secret group of agents is in the form of Car dealers. I'm not a car person, but have had to pry this book out of the hands of two men I know.... They fell in love with the car descriptions and got hooked by the hot passion!
Excellent book!
3.5 stars
Tara Janzen's books are hit and miss for me. The first one I read, I liked a lot and then the next two left me uninspired and a little bored. This was just plain fun. Sure, it follows all the cliches and the girl is a little air-heady and has a real TSTL moment, but what can I say, I liked it. Take a way black, Black Ops group, a National Hero Air Force Pilot, a Dinosaur bone specialist, some specialized gun, diamonds, a teenage fantasy, and fast cars = Enjoyable read. If you don't expect too much but want a fast, hot read (including several scenes on a muscle car), this will not disappoint you.
Love the Steele Street series . I have read it at least three times ! This book is just the starting point , though it can be read as a stand alone book . Amazing book that leads off an amazing series
I've been a fan of Tara Janzen's Crazy series. The Steele Street Boys are rugged, rough, battle ready and militant guys. Yet, they are tender and very romantic. Crazy Hot was the last in the series for me, and I'm glad I finally got to read it. I think Quinn is the most romantic of all the guys, and I just love how he doesn't take Regan's reticence at the end as the final word on the relationship. He loves this woman, and putting macho aside, he goes after her and gets the girl who has been his dream since he was sixteen. I identified with Regan and I think other women will. She's a reserved, sensible kind of woman. But this camouflages the passion that is contained in that package. Quinn was the right guy to pull it out of her. The intimacy between them was wonderful. This is a great read.
There's too much going on in this book. There might be spoilers.....
The beginnings of the second story about the sister and Kid didn't make sense to me. First if you're not going to make it the next book, why leave it incomplete? Why put it the book as a second story but leave us hanging as to what happened to Kid and his relationship with the younger sister?
The book was otherwise good but had so much going on with side stories. The bouncing around drove me nuts but I got through it. I'm debating on whether or not I want to continue reading the rest of the series.
This story was great! It had action, humor, and a wonderful romance. Regan was trying to find her grandfather and landed in a ghost town in Utah. But she wasn't alone. Thankfully, she was able to find the one man, Quinn, able to lead her to her grandfather but she also lead a few bad guys right to their doorstep. This starts a race back to Colorado to make sure that Regan, her sister, and her grandfather are safe but also to discover why they are being chased in the first place. I loved the plot line, it was a great introduction to Steele Street. Regan and Quinn were hot together. They did have a few moments that could be frustrating for readers; we're running for our lives but we've got five minutes were we can stop and have some sexy times. Regan also had a TSTL moment for me but I overlooked it because I enjoyed the rest of the story so much. Great introduction to Steele Street, now I want to read the rest!
