The Immortal Circus Act Two Cirque des Immortels Book 2 eBook A R Kahler
I read the first book in the series...didnt give it a very good review. For that very reason I am reading all three books in this series to be as fair as possible to the author. Again he has a very creative imagination......the problem is putting it into written form for others to read. I believe the plot is good and characters could be better described, although I do see improvement in his character development. It could be so much better though.....I want to see him succeed as I do talent as a writer just under the surface. On to the final book in this series now, hoping to see stronger plot development, too.

The Immortal Circus Act Two Cirque des Immortels Book 2 eBook A R Kahler Reviews
While the writing and story telling was still topnotch, this felt very much like a second book. It didn't try as hard to hook the audience, itseemed a bit tired of its characters, and the magic of the first book felt absent. It didn't have any fun scenes with the Shifters, Kingston didn't really show off his powers, Vivienne seemed uninterested in getting to know any other characters in general, and quite a bit of the book was spent dwelling on Vivienne's visions of fire which felt like filler. This book worked on trying to unravel the mystery of Vivienne, and what a bloody, depressing history she had. (spoiler) And then the book had to sully the character of Kingston, who I adored. I know it was mainly to add a complication into their blissful relationship, and cheapen him so that he wasn't a pure white character even with past blood on his hands (though honestly, I can't see that his magic really did anything since I'm totally in love with him without him using any magic on me). Even with him sullied, he was still the most interesting character in the story, and to suddenly have him make an exit turned the story rather bland and lacking hope without him. But I still have hope that the third installment will make up for the downfalls of this installment, and turn this installment into a mere middle rung on a ladder to a fullfilling ending.

I read and enjoyed - and reviewed - the first in this series, so buying Act Two was a no-brainer for me.
This story is supposed to be about a magical circus, but about half of this installment does not take place at the circus. Instead, there is more focus on the different faerie Courts and what both Mab and Oberon - the Queen of the Winter Court and the King of the Summer Court - want with Vivienne.
One thing that was lacking from the first Act was answers to the mysteries of Vivienne's past. This book explores more of what she went through and why she ran to the circus, under the contention that her memory would be erased. More importantly, this book also explains why Vivienne is such an important player for both sides.
This book made me fall in love with Mab a little more. She's a character that intrigues me so much, largely because all of the other characters essentially fear her. She is also the most cunning of all the characters, understanding how to manipulate people and her surroundings to put herself in a prime position of power. There's something about her that leaves me in awe, even though I'm not really supposed to love the villain. I look forward to reading more about Mab in the Final Act, which I have already purchased.
I'm still not sold on the fey as supernatural creatures. For me, they just aren't my favorite, although this author has done a great job of making them more interesting to me. For those who are interested in supernatural stories, this series is a good choice. I would not recommend reading this one if you have not read the first, though.
It’s hard to believe, but I think The Immortal Circus Act II is even darker and more mysterious than the original book. In the end, I think Vivienne is confused. I know I am. Can’t wait to read the third act.
In the beginning, it’s not too bad. The great battle between the Summer and Winter Courts is over (for the time being at least), and the demon Kassia is locked away in the large ruby that adorns Mab’s Ringmaster hat. Vivienne and Kingston are lovers without reservation now, and new performers have been recruited for the circus.
Things are looking good, but Vivienne keeps having bad dreams, and she keeps remembering more and more of her previous life despite Kingston’s magic and despite her contract. Eventually, Kingston decides to take her to explore her past, hoping to lay the dreams to rest, and they set out to visit Detroit where she once lived with an abusive father, an elusive mother, and a sister. The father and mother remain almost as mysterious at the end as they have been all along.
But they also wind up visiting the Summer Kingdom, where Vivienne is caught. She discovers that she has lived before, that she was once Oberon’s lover and a lot of less savory stuff.
